evaluation of resistance of bread wheat cultivars to russian wheat aphid at seedling and stem elongation growth stages
نویسندگان
چکیده
twenty-two bread wheat cultivars along with susceptible (sholeh) and resistant (azadi) control cultivars were evaluated for resistance to russian wheat aphid of two growth stages including seedling and stem elongation in greenhouse. five adult aphids per plant were used for infestation. leaf chlorosis at seedling and stem elongation stages and leaf rolling at seedling stage were measured. other morphological and agromic traits were also measured at the end of the experiment. rasol, mahdavi and arvand were identified as resistant, and karoun as susceptible cultivars at seedling stage. there was no significant correlation between leaf rolling and chlorosis at seedling stage. in stem elongation stage, azadi, tabasi, bayat and kavir were highly resistant and sholeh, karoun, rasoul and karoun were highly susceptible cultivars. at stem elongation stage, leaf chlorosis did not have significant correlation with other traits. at seedling stage, grain numbers per spike and pedincle length decreased significantly(21% and 23%, respectively) by infestation of aphid. at stem elongation stage, however, pedincle length and dry weight decreased significantly(20% and 17%, respectively). all cultivars were more susceptible at seedling than stem elongation stage.

Salt Sensitivity of Two Wheat Cultivars at Different Growth Stages
To determine salt sensitivity for wheat at various growth stages, a factorial experiment arranged as randomized complete block design was conducted in the ambient environment at the National Salinity Research Center, Yazd, Iran. Treatment were two cultivars of wheat (Kavir & Roshan) and salinity imposed at emergence, tillering, stem elongation, spike emergence and one week after anthesis. A con...

Elicitors are molecules which can induce the activation of plant defence responses. Elicitor activity of intercellular wash fluid from Russian wheat aphid, Diuraphis noxia (Mordvilko) infested resistant (cv Tugela DN), and susceptible (cv Tugela), wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), was investigated. Known Russian wheat aphid resistance related responses such as peroxidase and beta-1,3-glucanase acti...
متن کاملPlant and Floret Growth at Distinct Developmental Stages During the Stem Elongation Phase in Wheat
Floret development is critical for grain setting in wheat (Triticum aestivum), but more than 50% of grain yield potential (based on the maximum number of floret primordia) is lost during the stem elongation phase (SEP, from the terminal spikelet stage to anthesis). Dynamic plant (e.g., leaf area, plant height) and floret (e.g., anther and ovary size) growth and its connection with grain yield t...

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) ranks first among cereal crops cultivated in Russia and Russia is one of the major wheat producers in the world. Though there is a great demand for Russian wheat varieties with resistance to diseases and other environmental stress, there is a limitation at transferring resistance to crop plants by the complexity of stress tolerance traits, as most of these are quant...
